Chris's Bike Page
Hi my name is Chris, and I now ride what you may call a classic Japanese
motorcycle. It is a 1979 Honda CB900FZ. I had the 750cc version
many years ago. When I saw this Beastie it bought a tear to my eye and
I just had to have it.
The poor beast, had a little crash damage, Clocks, rear indicator,
and grab handle, scuffed engine bars. but otherwise not in bad
condition. As it had spent a while off the road, I stripped the
carbs, changed the plugs, new battery and oil change. Then spent a
while trying to start her. Eventually she fired on one, then
two........ three....... four... The monster lives....
I spent a short while chasing a set of clocks for a reasonable price,
filed the rough edges off the grab handle, straightened the indicators
and changed the tyres. The rear was bald and the front was a trail bike
tyre , yup thats right trail bike. She flew through the m.o.t ,
but one thing did come up, the headlamp was for continental roads.
Turns out my beastie was imported from Europe, that is as close
as I can get from the frame number. It is now used on a fairly
regular basis. Handling leaves a little to be desired, a little top heavy to say the least, but
performance is good, . The only problem with
her is if left for more than about a week she can be a pig to start..
before you email to tell me, the FZ has a manual fuel tap.

This is the Bike now, I did not have to do much to it. I do have a 4 into 1 exhaust that is the
correct age etc, But its so loud I got a headache when it was
fitted from the noise echoing back from vehicles/walls etc.
Personally I dont agree with loud pipes save lives, think it just
upsets people and puts them against bikes
I have owned many bikes over the years, all of them old as such. All
work on these has been done by myself. Being heavily into
electrics/electronics and with lots of time served on most forms of
engineering. Below is a list of some of those I have owned.
