Herbal Medicine What is Herbal Medicine?Herbal Medicine is a form a form of healing using plants and dates back thousands of years. There is a is a history of herbal medicine in most cultures throughout the world, involving the use of local plants. Today we have access to a much wider range of plants, although it is debated that native is best What is herbal medicine used for? Herbal medicines can be used as an alternative to mainstream medicine or as a complementary to medical treatment. Or perhaps alongside hypnotherapy for example giving up smoking. It can be used to treat many conditions such as: IBS / Digestive Conditions Skin Conditions PMS Menopausal Symptoms Anxiety Fatigue Allergies Coughs, Colds Ect Stress and stress related illnesses And many more Why Visit a herbalist? For a personal and individual approach. The herbalist will take a full case history, covering current and past illnesses, diet, lifestyle ect. This helps build a picture of the individual and often seemingly insignificant things can be very important. Physical examination may take place where appropriate and blood pressure is usually taken. At the end of the initial consultation, which takes up to an hour, there are likely to be recommendations on diet and lifestyle and a herbal prescription made up ( or posted). About the Herbs? Herbs can be used in many forms, such as: Teas, tinctures, syrups, creams, ointments and more. Most commonly used these days are tinctures, which are usually alcohol or glycerine based. The first initial appointment is 1 ½ hours long costing £35.00 Follow Up appointments £20.00 Any medicine needed will be charged on top of the appointment fee. |
